Plate Programme 2019

Evening events

Wednesday, September 18
Welcome Reception at Seminaris

We will be kicking off this year’s evening programme with a welcome reception at the event hotel Seminaris on the Wednesday night, September 18. Weather permitting, the event will be held outside with a BBQ to make the most of Berlin’s legendary but all too short summer weather. Don’t miss the chance to get the lay of the land and meet some of the other delegates.

Thursday, September 19
Networking Dinner at Seminaris

On Thursday night we will again be meeting up at the conference location, this time for a sit-down networking dinner. Catch up with colleagues and make new contacts over dinner and a glass of wine.

Workshops

Participants will have the opportunity to join a range of exciting workshops. The workshop slots will have a length of 90 minutes and provide interactive formats to discuss broader issues, new trends or innovative ideas concerning product lifetimes and the environment.

Wednesday, September 18, 9:00 – 12:30
PhD session

The PLATE 2019 conference will continue to provide the “PhD session”, a platform for PhD students to get together, share ideas and questions on their research activities and exchange perspectives on product lifetime related topics. A brief introduction of the attendees will show each topic to indicate similar topics and students. In a group work of small clusters there will be the opportunity to peer and exchange on topics of interest. The session is set prior the conference, on Wednesday 18 September from 9 to 12:30. All PhD students with PLATE related research activities are welcome to register in this form.

Post-conference Event

20 -22 Sep The FixFest Reparatur Festival
Berlin/ Technische Universität

All PLATE participants are invited to visit the Fixfest – a festival to celebrate, connect and strengthen the internationally growing repair and maker movement, hosted by the Technische Universitaet Berlin. The Fixfest starts right after the PLATE and gives the opportunity to immerse oneself deeper into topics around repair and making, reparability of products, the right to repair, sustainable product consumption, and the like. It will provide a place where repairpeople meet product designers and manufacturers, where scientists can share their knowledge with policymakers and game changers, where entrepreneurs get in touch with new bottom-up technologies and where you can join a repair café to fix your stuff in exactly the same place – this is the very unique character of the second international Fixfest Un-/Conference for the first time in Berlin.
